If you’ve been in the travel space for any amount of time, whether as an agent, client, or traveler, you’ve probably heard someone rave about UNICO 20°87° in Riviera Maya. And if you haven’t experienced it yourself yet, it should be at the top of your “resorts to visit” list. The brand gets so much love for a good reason. It’s an AAA Five Diamond Award-winning, adults-only all-inclusive that leads with local immersive experiences (so you FEEL like you’re actually in Mexico), incredible gastronomy and mixology, and personalized service. No crowded buffets, no kids, no Americanized experiences. You get to experience luxury, Mexican style.
UNICO is now on a full expansion run, and Jamaica has got next.
What makes UNICO different
Most all-inclusives give you amenities. UNICO gives you an experience. The name itself tells the story: the numbers in the resort name are its coordinates, reflecting its exact geographic location. The destination is just as important as the resort.
The signature move that separates UNICO from its competitors is something called the Local Host, which is a personalized concierge service that handles everything from check-in to late checkout requests, restaurant reservations, tour bookings, and planning special occasions. Guests enjoy curated itineraries, custom welcome gifts, room preferences, personalized dining, and spa schedules, all arranged before and during the stay. That’s not a butler in the traditional sense. That’s someone who actually knows the destination and makes you feel like a local with a hotel key.
The food program is just as intentional, with locally-inspired cuisine, dedicated mixology, art, wellness, and unique off-property adventures all built into the experience. Unico is not your average “unlimited drinks and a wristband” all-inclusive property.
The brand is growing, and fast
UNICO 20°87° in Riviera Maya was the lone property in the brand when it opened in 2017, but the collection is expanding. UNICO 20°105° Hotel Riviera Nayarit officially opened in 2025, situated just 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific coast. It sits along the clearest waters of the Pacific with the Sierra Madre mountains as a backdrop, featuring locally-inspired cuisine, a rooftop deck with views over the bay, mixology classes, and curated local excursions. Same vibe as the Riviera Maya property, but reflecting a different coast and different culture. (yes, there are definitely sub-cultures within Mexican culture, which is pretty awesome!)
And now they’re taking the whole concept out of Mexico entirely.
What’s happening in Jamaica?
UNICO 18°77° Hotel Montego Bay will be the brand’s first property outside of Mexico which has been LONG awaited (especially by me!) The resort will have 451 rooms when it opens.

Every single guest room will have a direct ocean view. Ground-floor rooms will have semi-private swim-up pools. All other rooms will include outdoor hydro spa tubs. So whether you’re on the ground floor or up high, you’re getting an upscale experience. Double rooms will also offer two king beds, which is actually rare for this destination.
AIC Hotels, the parent company that owns and operates Hard Rock all-inclusive, Unico and Nobu, has committed to bringing the Unico magic to Jamaica with excellence. They plan to highlight local culture, art, cuisine, and mixology through curated experiences both on and off the property. If you know anything about Jamaica’s culture and vibes, you already know this is going to hit differently than a property that just drops a resort in a destination without actually engaging with it. I absolutely LOVE Jamaica and am so excited about this.
The resort is situated on Jamaica’s north shore close to Montego Bay. That means you’re getting white sand beaches and crystal turquoise water. The property sits within a larger destination resort development bringing major new hotels to Montego Bay.

When can you book
The official opening is to be determined; reservations are not yet open. That said, this is exactly the kind of property you want to be ready for when the doors do open. These rooms will go fast, and the early birds are going to have the most options.

Here’s how to get a head start on Jamaica right now
While you’re waiting on UNICO Montego Bay to open its doors, there’s an offer on the table that lets you lock in a future stay there while getting a great trip in the meantime.
Book five or more nights at UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya or UNICO 20°105° Riviera Nayarit by June 30th, travel by September 30th, and you’ll receive two complimentary nights on a future five-night stay at UNICO 18°77° Montego Bay. You’re essentially getting rewarded for a trip you already wanted to take.
This is the move. You get your Mexico fix now, and you’re already set up for Jamaica when it opens.
