Agent of the YEAR!

Hey y’all….

Bear with me on this one. I am not very good at tooting my own horn, but can’t let this moment pass me by, not this time.

For those who don’t know, my business Bon Voyage by Barbour/BVB Travel is an independently contracted travel agency hosted through a larger agency based out of Ohio, KHM Travel Group. KHM has over 3,500 4,000 agents across these 50 United States of America.

Every year, KHM recognizes their top producing agents through their Crystal Conference and Awards aboard Ruby Princess, sailing the Mexican Riviera. I didn’t go because of our journey to being debt-free, which I’ll save for another post. The awards ceremony was earlier tonight and, to my utter surprise and delight, I was awarded as the AGENT OF THE YEAR for Jamaica Tourist Board!! This means out of 4,000 agents, I was the highest producing agent of 2018. WHAT?!?!

KHM also has their Pinnacle Elite Program, of which I’ve been a part since 2015. This past week they held the annual It took me 2.5 years to reach Pinnacle and have maintained my status every year since. Last year, they incorporated a tiered system: Bronze – Silver – Gold – Platinum and Diamond (the million dollar folks). The production numbers for 2018 came out about 2 weeks ago, and I was shocked (SHOCKED!) to find myself sitting in Gold Status, one of only 55 agents to fall within the Gold, Platinum or Diamond classes. WHAT?! I knew 2018 was busy but I didn’t realize just HOW busy.

Adding to these amazing achievements is the fact that I am one of only a few agents of color to reach this level. I’m happy to be able to represent and show that this business has no bounds!

Listen, this is 100% due to my amazing clients, friends and family who have been booking with and/or referring people to me in the 6.5 years this business has existed. God has blessed it, that’s all I can really say. It’s been a labor of love, especially with having to balance my love of travel with a full-time job, a spouse, a toddler and extended family/friends all vying for my attention. I’ve had amazing unofficial mentors in the travel world who have coached me on processes and workflow to keep all of this volume manageable and FUN.

As 2018 turned into 2019, I was wondering if I would be able to replicate the volume of the prior year…I was really doubting myself. The first 42 days of 2019 have proven that this should not be a concern. I’m busier than ever and seem to be on track to beat 2018!

I feel suuuuuper awkward talking about this, but I wanted to let you guys know that I am booked, busy and being recognized for it! I’ve been invited to be interviewed on two separate podcasts and am constantly improving, building relationships and engaging with others whenever possible.  I LOVE this travel thing and am really excited about continued growth that will eventually allow me to dedicate to it as my full-time career <3.
